How the indicators changed

  • Fertility (TFR): 6.20 in 1950 → 3.25 in 2023 (−48%). Peak: 7.08 in 1969; the latest value is 54% lower. The trend broke around 1958 and 1966: −0.22 → +0.29 → −0.07 a year.
