How the indicators changed

  • Fertility (TFR): 5.81 in 1950 → 1.00 in 2023 (−83%). Peak: 7.51 in 1963; the latest value is 87% lower. Thresholds: below 2.1 since 1991, below 1.5 since 2019. The trend broke around 1970 and 1977: +0.02 → −0.49 → −0.03 a year.
